Site Area : 23 Acres Design Team : The factory campus for Triveni Turbines Limited, in Dabaspete on the outskirts of Bangalore, derives its design from the shape and contours of the site and the quest to create a naturally lit work environment in all areas. The production shop with five bays of 30 by 150 metres with 18 metre height, has linear courtyards between every alternate bay, which ensures that each bay has windows opening to the outdoors along one side. This, together with clerestory and north lights at the higher level, ensure a bright and naturally lit work environment. The administration block is attached to the first two bays, and is organised around two open courtyards that form a part of the entrance sequence for visitors as well as workers. The angle of the buildings is adjusted to preserve an existing grove of mango trees, and to work with the site contour that steps down to a cafeteria, training centre and guest house that hug a rain water harvesting pond. The project has won a LEED Gold rating. |
