CHITRAPUR MUSEUM, SHIRALI

The Shri Chitrapur Math, Shirali  has a large collection of antiques dated back to 3rd century. These include objects like stone sculpture, arms, weapons, manuscripts, etc. It also include a large chariate. As located in very strong context of the Math and traditional sloped mangalore tile roof and  layered transparency, our idea is to create a large singular space which is distributed into different galleries.
The Museum is related to Math by opening museum to the south west corner with veranda space opening towards the Math. The chariate is the most important aspect of the museum with all the galleries and the movement sequence going around the chariate which spans triple hight and the movement sequence finaly ending at the chariate space.
