BRIGADE COURTYARD, BANGALORE
The requirement to fit 184 apartments on a narrow 3 acre linear site and yet provide a sense of openness and connection to nature was the challenge. The brief was to achieve the required built up area within a low-rise, G+3 scheme. Various density studies helped achieve this built up area, the result was achieving maximum yield by arranging two wings of apartment blocks along the length of the site separated by a linear garden. At the narrowest part of the site, these two wings come close to each other and would have an overbearing, that creates undesirable apartment facing proximities. This was solved by using a section that stepped backwards as it rose, creating landscaped terraces to buffer, which in turn generated various terrace type apartments.
